Chapter 2-14 : Let’s Go To The Town Ⅱ (part 2)

「Actually, I’m from an orphanage too, just like you. In the orphanage I used to live in, we kept our daily needs to the minimum. Usually, I donate to the orphanage only when they are really in need of money. For example, when they have to repair the orphanage building or buy clothes for the children.」(Leonora)

「I see. Thank you for your advice.」(Sarasa)

So the point is simply handing over money will not help the orphanage, right?

I’m sure the director of the orphanage I was in will use the money wisely, but… I think I should discuss it with her when my income increases and have money to donate.

「Well, you can also ask your master for advice. She is a master class alchemist so she is more experienced in life than I am.」(Leonora)

「Yes, I will do it. Thank you.」(Sarasa)

「You’re welcome. Even though I’m not a great alchemist, I’m still your senior, so you can talk to me anytime if you have any problems.」(Leonora)

「Un. South Strugg is not that far, so I’ll definitely come to have a talk with you sometime.」(Sarasa)

「Great. I’ll be waiting for you.」(Leonora)

「Un! Well then, I want to get home before dark, so I’m going home now. Thank you for the treat, Leonora-san!」(Sarasa)

「No problem. Honestly, I want you to stay at my place though.」(Leonora)

「Ahaha. Maybe next time.」(Sarasa)

「Alright. Be careful on your way.」(Leonora)

「Un. See you again, Leonora-san!」(Sarasa)

I left the restaurant while waving at Leonora-san.

Leonora-san waved back with a bitter smile on her face.

After leaving the restaurant, I immediately left the town and started running to the village.

However…

「Ugu…. I ate a little too much…」(Sarasa)

Immediately after starting running, my stomach felt heavy.

I was too excited because I could eat expensive, delicious food for free and ate gluttonously without thinking.

I totally forgot that I had to run home after eating…

But, it can’t be helped!

The food was delicious!

It was impossible for me to resist eating as much as I wanted!

My stomach felt heavy and my legs moved really slowly.

The sun had completely set by the time I arrived at the village.

I said I would get home before dark, but I got home pretty late.

I apologized to Lorea-chan, Iris-san and Kate-san who were anxiously waiting for me, ate dinner together with them, and immediately went to bed.

◇ ◇ ◇

The next day, I went to Geberg-san’s house to tell him that I had ordered good quality wood for him to build the frame for my refrigerator.

Right after I returned from Geberg-san’s house, Andre-san came.

「Yo, Sarasa-chan. I have finished making a list of people who want to order Flexible Gloves.」(Andre)

「Really? That was quite fast. Let’s see…. Wow, there are quite a lot!」(Sarasa)

This number…

Isn’t it all the Collectors who are currently staying in this village…?

「After we told them about the Ice Fang Bats and how convenient the gloves were, everyone started asking me to put their names on the list.」(Andre)

Considering the risk of losing your fingers when you collect the fangs of Ice Fang Bats, the high selling price of the fangs, and how convenient Flexible Gloves are, it was only natural that everybody decided to order the gloves.

After all, even though Flexible Gloves are not cheap, they can easily get their money back after selling the fangs of Ice Fang Bats.

「Flexible Gloves are indeed very convenient, but these Collectors haven’t even seen the real thing, right? So why do they want to buy them…? Ah, is it because they trust you, Andre-san?」(Sarasa)

「Well, I’m a veteran and most of the Collectors in this village know me, but I would say it’s not because they trust me, instead, they want to buy the gloves because they trust you, Sarasa-chan.」(Andre)

「Me…?」(Sarasa)

Why me?

I don’t remember doing something for them to gain their trust though…

「Everyone knows that you’re a strong, capable alchemist, so they believe that all items you make are great and useful. Besides, you always purchase our materials and sell us potions at a fair price, so they believe that you will purchase the fangs of Ice Fang Bats at a fair price too.」(Andre)

They might have heard it from Andre-san but the information about the risk of losing fingers when collecting Ice Fang Bats’ fangs, and the information about how convenient the Flexible Gloves were, was from me.

They believe what Andre-san said because they trust me.

Also, they believe that I will buy their Ice Fang Bats’ fangs properly at the full price.

With such conditions, I can’t find the reason for them not to buy Flexible Gloves from me.

「I see… I’m really grateful that they trust me. Alchemists can’t live without Collectors after all.」(Sarasa)

Alchemists can make a living by processing and selling the materials they purchase from Collectors.

In other words, if Collectors didn’t want to sell anything to Alchemists, the Alchemists wouldn’t be able to sell anything and couldn’t make money.

Of course we can just go outside and collect materials ourselves, or purchase materials from other alchemists, but it will be very difficult to make a profit that way.

「I said I would make it cheaper the more people want to buy, so… Umm… I will give a 300 reas discount for each person. The normal price was 3,800 reas, so I’ll make it 3,500 reas for each pair of gloves.」(Sarasa)

「Hoo… That’s a great deal, but… Are you sure? I think those gloves are still more than worth buying even at their original price.」(Andre)

「I don’t mind. I can still make a little bit of profit even if I make it cheaper.」(Sarasa)

Luckily, I carried the materials to make Flexible Gloves from Leonora-san’s store by myself.

If I used a shipping service, I don’t think I could make a profit.

Shipping costs are expensive after all.

「Thank you, Sarasa-chan. I’ll accept your kind offer then.」(Andre)

「Un. It would be more profitable for me if Collectors can bring me a lot of materials after all.」(Sarasa)

「Ahahaha! Looks like we have to work harder then!」(Andre)

After I said that with a smile, Andre-san replied with a laugh.
