Chapter 328 : Castle Kitchen

As soon as we got to the castle, Maya returned to her ‘maid-mode’.

She led me and Nicola to a middle-aged man with a dandy face who seemed to be the head chef and introduced me to him.

「As you might have heard from Tryon-sama, you will learn how to make a dish from this boy today.」(Maya)

「You can call me Mark.」(Mark)

「Alright. I’m counting on you, Mark-kun.」(head chef)

I nodded at the head chef as I introduced myself, and he nodded back at me.

「Mark-sama, I’m going to tell Tryon-sama about what happened today. After that, I’m going to go to the guard’s headquarters to find out about those kidnappers. Chef, I leave him to you.」(Maya)

Maya politely bowed at me and the head chef, and then left us.

「Mark-kun, I will take you to the kitchen. Follow me.」(head chef)

「Okay.」(Mark)

When I was about to follow the head chef, Nicola pulled my sleeve.

「Onii-chan, I think I’m gonna back to sleep now.」(Nicola)

「I see. Alright.」(Mark)

『I wonder if Celine is still sleeping in her room~ Muhehe~』(Nicola)

『…Don’t bother her too much, okay?』(Mark)

After grinning suspiciously for a second, Nicola turned around and walked along the corridor, heading to the guest rooms.

It’s almost lunchtime. I hope she won’t oversleep.

When I got to the kitchen, I was astonished by how magnificent it was.

The kitchen was bigger than any kitchen I’ve ever visited. It was even bigger than the kitchens in big restaurants in general.

There were several chefs working here. It seemed that they were preparing for lunch.

「Guys, can I get your attention, please?」(head chef)

Immediately after the head chef called them out, the other chefs stopped cutting vegetables and meat, and then gathered in front of us.

「Today, we’re going to learn to make a dish from this boy, Mark. What is it called again?」(head chef)

「Potato salad.」(Mark)

「That’s right. Potato salad. You better listen to him carefully.」(head chef)

「「Yes, sir!」」(chefs)

ーSLAM!

Suddenly, the door was slammed open and Liane barged in with a worried face.

「Nicola-chan, are you alright!?」(Liane)

「Li, Liane-sama!? Can I help you?」(head chef)

「Ehh…? Where’s Nicola-chan? I heard from Maya that they encountered a bunch of kidnappers in the city.」(Liane)

「Nicola-chan…?」(head chef)

Liane looked around the kitchen, looking for Nicola. She looked worried about her.

「Liane-sama, my sister returned to her room to sleep. We indeed encountered kidnappers, but we are fine.」(Mark)

「I see… Thank god…」(Liane)

「See? Maya told you that she was fine, didn’t she? You’re such a worrywart.」(Tryon)

Just when I thought I heard a familiar voice, Tryon showed up and put his hand on Liane’s head, trying to calm her down.

「Tryon-sama.」(head chef)

「Head Chef, do you remember the kid I met at Fatia I told you about a while ago? That’s him. Mark. I want you to learn well from him.」(Tryon)

「I see. I promise I won’t disappoint you.」(head chef)

「That’s right! Liane, I think you should stay and learn how to cook from Mark.」(Tryon)

「Eeehh? But you told me to study in my room today.」(Liane)

「Learning how to cook is the same as studying. Mark, can you teach her too?」(Tryon)

While saying that, Tryon glanced at me and winked as if telling me that it would be a good opportunity to get closer to his daughter.

Honestly, I don’t mind teaching her, but…

「….!!」(Liane)

She’s glaring at me…

「A, Alright…」(Mark)

「Liane, be nice to Mark, would you?」(Tryon)

「…Understood, Father…」(Liane)

「Well then, Head Chef, I leave my daughter to you.」(Tryon)

「You can count on me, Tryon-sama.」(head chef)

Tryon left the kitchen after he saw the head chef and the other chefs bowing at him.

Is it just me or did the heavy and awkward atmosphere start filling the kitchen as soon as he left…?

I can’t even talk to Liane properly, and he told me to teach her how to cook?

This is gonna be a tough job…

「A, Ahem! Anyway, let’s get started. First, we are going to make mayonnaise which is essential for potato salad.」(Mark)

「Mayo… nice…?」(head chef)

「Mayonnaise. It’s a sour white sauce.」(Mark)

「Sour white sauce… I’ve never heard of it.」(head chef)

Even the head chef of a noble’s castle didn’t seem to know what mayonnaise was. The other chefs looked like they had no idea either.

「It’s a sauce made of egg. I will show you how to make it.」(Mark)

I approached the kitchen countertop and began my cooking lesson.

  1. Lol, i am sure it won’t improve much relationship, it would have to be something drastic I think

    1. I’ll be happier the sooner their relationship improves or, if it doesn’t, the sooner she leaves the novel. It’s comedic a couple of times but the glare or hate every chapter is annoying. At least say something tsun you boring girl

  2. Trying to get friendly with an obvious lily before she hits puberty is more trouble than it’s worth it. Especially from the position of a commoner toward a noble. Not much opportunity to make a debt of gratitude as an excuse to hang out together. No common interests except Nicola. I think it’s better to leave her to her prejudiced self.
