Chapter 3-36 : She Has Finally Arrived

After a while, the rush of greetings calmed down. People began to leave Mylia alone.

They were divided into several groups. Some of them were enjoying having conversations with each other, some of them were dancing in the center of the venue, and some of them were enjoying food.

At the table near the seats for guests of honor, there was Duke Griffith talking with some aristocrats that seemed to be on good terms with him.

They seemed to be nobles who had power in the kingdom. The males were wearing expensive-looking suits, and the females were wearing gorgeous dresses.

(Aria’s father surely is adored by many aristocrats even though his family is currently in a bad financial situation… Probably because of his unfortunate situation, he can clearly tell which people are his enemies and which ones are his allies…)

「Mylia-san, you did well greeting all those people. You must be tired.」(Aria)

Seeing Mylia was no longer surrounded by people, Aria approached her.

「Haha… Yeah, it’s pretty tiring…」(Mylia)

「Fufu. You can enjoy the party now. I’m going to greet my father’s friends. I’ll talk to you again later.」(Aria)

「Okay~」(Mylia)

Saying that, Aria walked toward the crowd surrounding her father.

Mylia was relieved to see Aria having fun at the party.

She knew that Aria had been devoting herself to learning magic for the past six years, sacrificing her youth to save her grandma.

(I’m glad she’s enjoying herself. Seeing her happy face makes me want to ask her to go on a date somewhere~ Oh, right! The World Tree can be a good place to go!)

While thinking of a plan to make Aria even more happy, Mylia approached the tables with food and took some snacks.

She then started eating while looking at the hall leading to the entrance.

(Hmm… Seems like that woman hasn’t come yet…)

Seeing Chloe, who just finished greeting the people, Mylia approached her and sat next to her while holding a plate full of snacks in her hand.

「Say, Onee-chan. Do you know when that woman will come?」(Mylia)

Chloe took a glass of grape juice from a maid, took a sip, and replied to Mylia.

「I think she will be here soon.」(Chloe)

「To be honest, I don’t really want to see her face.」(Mylia)

「I know your feelings, but don’t worry. There will be no problem if everything goes according to plan. I think Jasmine onee-sama is ready by now.」(Chloe)

「Speaking of Jasmine onee-sama, she looked wonderful in that dress! I can’t wait to see people’s reaction when she makes an appearance.」(Mylia)

While saying that, Mylia remembered the beautiful appearance of Jasmine in a gorgeous dress she had seen a while ago.

(Jasmine onee-sama looked like a beautiful literature-type girl in a dress. It makes you want to protect her!)

While Mylia was thinking that, someone with a great aura approached her and Chloe.

He was a gentle-looking man who seemed to be in his forties. He had a unique hairstyle similar to Bach and Mozart’s.

Noticing his presence, Chloe immediately stood up from her chair and politely bowed at him.

「Count Bacon Saint Germaine, it’s a pleasure to have you at our party. Thank you for coming.」(Chloe)

(That delicious-sounded name… and that ‘sausage hairstyle’… Aa! I’ve seen this man before. He was the organizer of the party for unmarried aristocrats that was held a while ago.)(ch 3-9 part 2)

Mylia remembered the man pretty well because of his name and hairstyle.

「Baronet Chloe de la Atwood, congratulations on your ennoblement. I’m very happy that a beautiful and intelligent woman like you joined our aristocratic society. I’m sure there will be many men who want to marry you, and I’m sure you will make most of them cry.」(Bacon)

Count Bacon elegantly bowed as he complimented Chloe with a friendly smile.

He was extremely popular in society. People called him “The Evangelist of Love”.

It was said that a bride and groom whose wedding was attended by him would be forever united by love.

Because Jasmine would marry soon, Chloe hoped that Count Bacon’s presence could bring happiness to Jasmine’s marriage life.

「Fufu. I never thought you were good at joking. I don’t think someone like me can make men cry.」(Chloe)

Chloe answered honestly, thinking that Count Bacon was joking.

(No, no, no. Onee-chan, you don’t realize it but you’ve already made hundreds of men cry so far!)

Mylia and Count Bacon’s eyes met. They then shrugged their shoulders while looking at each other as if they were thinking the same thing.

Seeing the two’s suspicious behavior, Chloe tilted her head cutely.

「Hm? What’s wrong?」(Chloe)

「Hehe, nothing.」(Mylia)

「You may not realize it now but you will sooner or later.」(Bacon)

「Hmm…?」(Chloe)

Chloe became even more confused.

While Chloe was trying to figure out the meaning of Count Bacon’s words, Count Bacon turned his gaze toward Mylia.

「Lady Dragon Slayer, this is the second time we’ve met. I’m happy to see you again.」(Bacon)

Mylia quickly put the plate of snacks on the empty chair next to her and stood up.

「Ah, th-thank you for coming to our party, Count Sausagー I mean, Count Bacon.」(Mylia)

(Woops, I almost messed up. His name is Bacon but his hair looks like sausages…)

Seeing Mylia’s awkward bow, Count Bacon smiled gently.

「It’s hard to believe that a pretty lady like you is a Dragon Slayer. Truth can be stranger than fictional stories sometimes.」(Bacon)

「Is that so?」(Mylia)

「That’s how things work in our life sometimes. By the way, when are you going to come to my mansion? My wife and I have always been waiting for you but you never come.」(Bacon)

(Aa… Now that he mentioned it, he once invited me to his mansion, saying that his wife is a big fan of mine… I totally forgot about that…)

「U, Umm… I thought that invitation wasn’t serious…」(Mylia)

「No, no. I seriously invited you to my house.」(Bacon)

「I, I see… Umm, just so you know, I have no intention of getting married, so I hope you won’t introduce me to a man…」(Mylia)

(He was the organizer of the party for unmarried people, and he is popular for uniting couples together. He is like a cupid, so I need to be careful here…)

When Mylia said that while looking at Count Bacon with a dubious look, Count Bacon laughed.

「Aahaha! I see, I see. You don’t want to get married, huh? Don’t worry. It’s just that my wife is eager to see you, so I’ll be happy if you want to talk with her. Also, I promised to show you my jewelry collection, didn’t I? You like jewelry, right?」(Bacon)

Count Bacon asked Mylia as he glanced at Mylia’s necklace.

「Well, I don’t hate it, but I prefer ores that are useful to make things rather than the jewels that only have the value of beauty.」(Mylia)

「Ah, ores. I have tons of them in my warehouse.」(Bacon)

「Really? Do you by any chance trade ores?」(Mylia)

When she asked, she remembered that she had a lot of ores in her magic bag.

「Yes, we do buy and sell them. My territory, The Saint Germaine Territory, is well-known because of its ore processing business.」(Bacon)

「I see. Actually, I have a lot of ores. Chloe onee-chaー onee-sama and I will eventually start a business in the future, so I hope we can be business partners when the time comes.」(Mylia)

Chloe, who had been listening from the side, was surprised when her name was mentioned all of a sudden.

She glanced at Mylia with a confused expression as if saying, “What are you talking about, Mylia?”

Meanwhile, Count Bacon seemed to be interested. He looked at Chloe and asked.

「Does that mean that you will supply us with ores?」(Bacon)

Being asked a question, Chloe, who was taken aback, thought of an answer in an instant with her quick-witted brain.

「Yes. My sister, Mylia, has a large number of ores in her magic bag. She picked them during the four years of her magic training in the Atwood Territory.」(Chloe)

「Hoo… She stored them all in that small bag? Hmm… A magic bag made by the rumored Dragon Slayer. How intriguing…」(Bacon)

Count Bacon stared curiously at Mylia’s waist as he said that.

It was common sense that magicians always carry their magic bags with them everywhere, even at a party. Females normally hid their magic bags under their dresses.

After that, the three of them talked about ores and jewels, and when Count Bacon was satisfied talking with Mylia and Chloe, he left them and walked toward the seat that was prepared for him.

The moment Count Bacon was alone, other nobles started to surround him.

(Just like Aria’s father, seems like he is popular among aristocrats.)

While thinking that, Mylia checked the time with her Clock Magic.

(Almost an hour had passed since the party started but I still can’t find that woman…)

Just when Mylia was thinking that, there was a commotion at the entrance.

When she looked over there, she saw Robin in a bright red dress enter the venue while being escorted by the second son of Duke Griffith, Chris.

(There she is… Her smug face really disgusts me…)

Robin smirked, feeling happy that people were looking at her with jealous gazes. At that moment, she felt like the world revolved around her.

Each of the jealous faces of the women in the venue was a pleasure for her.

「Ara~ Looks like we’re a bit late, Chris-sama.」(Robin)

「It’s alright. Miss Robilya, let’s greet the people, shall we?」(Chris)

Robin entangled her hand on Chris’ arm, and then the two started walking together.

    1. She WAS an Atwood, duh. Anyway, it wasn’t like they could use it or were going to use it or even knew about it since it was around the monster territory, which they couldn’t even get close to. If you pick up a shiny and somewhat useful rock from the ground that nobody else uses or wants, do you seriously think that’s stealing? If that were the case, most scientists in this world would be considered as thieves. Once again you just follow rules that you were taught without exception and without thinking for yourself.
