Chapter 1-10 : Plan (part 2)

「So, how are we going to tell other players about this?」(Gaul)

「I’m thinking of using the in-game bulletin board.」(Shougo)

「Well, that’s probably the best way to send messages to other players, but do you think they will believe us? I know a lot of players. Many of them are skeptical. I doubt they will believe us easily.」(Gaul)

「Yeah, I understand that. People might not believe us immediately, but I’m sure if they keep playing this game, they will notice the change in the NPCs’ behavior and realize that we speak the truth.」(Shougo)

「I see. Certainly, people will realize that the NPCs are getting colder toward players, especially those who don’t treat them well.」(Gaul)

「Exactly. It’s like explaining to people the reality of what happened based on their own experience.」(Shougo)

「Hmm… What do you think, guys?」(Gaul)

「I think it’s a good idea.」(Shuu)

「Well, it’s not that we have any other method to spread this information to other players.」(Leone)

「If they like this game and want to keep playing it, I’m sure they will listen.」(Kururu)

「Thank you. Alice, Rin, what about you? What do you think?」(Shougo)

「I think that’s the fastest way to send this message to other players. I have no objection.」(Rin)

「Me neither. I’m sure you will fulfill your promise to Nansa obaa-chan.」(Alice)

「I’ll do my best.」(Shougo)

It seems that the plan has been decided.

I hope it will go well. ーNo. It has to go well. We would be doomed otherwise…

「We planned to go to the dungeon together today, but I’m sorry, guys, we got something more important we have to do.」(Shougo)

「Don’t worry about that. We can’t just pretend we don’t know anything about it and have fun hunting monsters in the dungeon anyway.」(Gaul)

「That’s right. Besides, I heard that hunting monsters in the dungeon is not as rewarding as it was on the first day.」(Shuu)

「Yeah. The drop items we can get from monsters are getting less and less day by day.」(Leone)

「I notice that too.」(Kururu)

When they were talking about the dungeon, I remembered hearing something similar from a girls’ party in the bathhouse the other day.

It seems that people are getting less loot from the dungeon recently.

「Getting less loot sucks, but I think it’s good news for us.」(Shougo)

「Huh? What do you mean?」(Gaul)

「If players are not getting enough rewards from dungeons, they will start accepting requests from NPCs, right? I think that will be a good opportunity for us players to show our good sides to NPCs.」(Shougo)

「I see. So it can be a trigger for the NPCs to get to know the players better.」(Gaul)

「That’s right.」(Shougo)

「It might fix the relationship between players and NPCs, but I wonder if there is anything we can do to fix the drop rate of the dungeon. I want to make a new spear but I’m out of materials.」(Shuu)

「Yeah, the drop rate sucks. Aa-ahh… If only the corpses of the monsters we kill remain like in the real life.」(Leone)

「That would be great. Unfortunately, this is inside a game, so monsters will disappear as soon as we kill them.」(Kururu)

Hold on… I know very well the skill that prevents corpses of monsters from disappearing.

「Umm, guys?」(Alice)

「What’s the matter, Alice-chan~?」(Leone)

「Have you ever heard a skill called【Hunter】?」(Alice)

「【Hunter】…? Is that an archery skill or something?」(Shuu)

「Umm, no, it’s not.」(Alice)

Everyone looked at me at once. They didn’t seem to know, even Shougo.

None of them interacted with the townspeople, so I guess it’s only natural if they don’t know it.

「So, Alice, what is that skill all about?」(Shougo)

「It’s a special skill that prevents monsters you hunt from disappearing upon death, meaning that their corpse will remain and you can loot everything from them.」(Alice)

「The corpses will… remain…!?」(Gaul)

「Really!? That’s awesome!」(Shuu)

「That’s just what we need!」(Kururu)

「As expected from Alice-chan~」(Leone)

「Alice…」(Shougo)

While the other party members were looking at me with surprised faces, Shougo grabbed my shoulders and looked at me with a scary face.

「Wh, What is it… Shougo…?」(Alice)

「Where did you learn it!? ーOuch!」(Shougo)

Rin slapped Shougo’s head.

「Stop it! You scared her!」(Rin)

「Ugh… I’m sorry…」(Shougo)

「Ahaha… I learned it from a hunter called Rick after he taught me how to hunt monsters.」(Alice)

「Hold on… Is that person an NPC?」(Shougo)

「He is.」(Alice)

「No way… I didn’t know we could learn skills from NPCs. But since it’s a special skill, you spent a lot of Skill Points on it, didn’t you?」(Shougo)

「Nope. It’s free since Rick himself taught me, so I didn’t use any Skill Points.」(Alice)

「Seriously…?」(Shougo)

「Say, Shougo…」(Rin)

「Yeah… Rin…」(Shougo)

「I think we can use it.」(Rin)

「You’re right… We can use it!」(Shougo)

「Hmm…?」(Alice)

I wonder what they meant.

It feels a bit lonely that I’m the only one who doesn’t know what they’re talking about.

「You can learn skills from NPCs…」(Gaul)

「Moreover, you don’t have to spend any precious Skill Points…」(Shuu)

「That is awesome! Who doesn’t want to learn skills for free?」(Leone)

「I bet everyone in this game wants it. I see, now. Shougo, we can indeed use it!」(Kururu)

「Right? You need to learn it from NPCs, that means you have to be friends with them!」(Shougo)

「I see! I think it will work!」(Gaul)

Everyone was talking like they fully understood the plan.

Ugh… I feel left behind somehow…

「Alice, what do you think?」(Shougo)

「What? I don’t even follow what you guys are talking about.」(Alice)

「Ahh… You are smart but I forgot you could be slow sometimes…」(Shougo)

「Fufu. That’s Alice for you!」(Rin)

「Hey, what do mean by that!?」(Alice)

「Anyway, we can use this information to fix the relationship between players and NPCs. If other players know that they can learn skills for free from NPCs, they will try to befriend them, right?」(Shougo)

「Skill Points are the most important resource in this game, so being able to learn new skills for free is a big deal for players.」(Rin)

「Ahh, I see!」(Alice)

Certainly, if other players know about this, they will start trying to interact with the townspeople and then learn that they are not just programs but ‘human beings’ in this world.

As a result, the players will respect the townspeople and treat them well.

「We thought that we could only acquire skills by leveling up and using Skill Points.」(Gaul)

「This is the information we won’t notice unless we get along with the NPCs.」(Shuu)

「Ahh~ I’m really glad I got to know Alice-chan~!」(Leone)

「Alice-san, you will be the hero who saves this town!」(Kururu)

「Ahaha…」(Alice)

A hero? Nah, I think she’s exaggerating.

But I’m glad that the information I have can help the other players and the townspeople.

「Alright, I’ll put all this information together and post it on the bulletin board. Alice, can you help me? Just tell me if there’s any other important information you know.」(Shougo)

「Aye, Sir!」(Alice)

「First, I will make a thread. After that, I will write that, and if I put it like that, I doubt anyone would ignore it. Khu khu khu~」(Shougo)

「Shougo, your face looks scary…」(Alice)

I don’t know what he was murmuring about, but he made a face that looked like a villain in a movie.

  1. If this was like any real mmo the despite all this information and warnings you’d still have entitled idiots
(Mostly young kids who are to immature or probably spoiled to truly understand the situation) who will demand the npc’s give them the skills. Because if you’ve ever played a mmo for a certain amount of time then you’ll eventually run into those kinda players and we call them trolls and the worst thing you can do with these creatures is feed the trolls.
