Chapter 1-8 : Signs (part 1)
After learning the【Hunter】skill from Rick, I started hunting the rabbit monsters in the grassland. I put their corpses in my storage using my【Storage】skill since time doesn’t flow in it.
While wandering around the grassland, I encountered many sheep-like monsters too.
I was so excited and screamed “lamb meeeeatt!!” in my head when I saw them. Of course, there was no reason for me not to hunt them.
I didn’t know how much time had passed since I started hunting the monsters in this grassland, but my【AGI Boost】skill and【Sword Mastery】skill had leveled up quite a lot.
My【AGI Boost】is now level 10, and my【Sword Mastery】is now level 7.
I’ve been using【AGI Boost】while hunting to increase my speed when I was chasing after my prey.
Of course, I’m using my wakizashi to fight them, so that’s probably why my【Sword Mastery】skill, which is a passive skill, has also leveled up.
Not only that, I also got a few skill points from fighting all those monsters.
It was already past noon when I returned to the town.
Since I didn’t know how to skin the rabbit and sheep monsters I hunted, I decided to go to the slaughterhouse Rick told me.
After they skin my prey, I think I will go to the bar that I visited yesterday to have them cook the meat for me.
I walked across the town, heading to the slaughterhouse, and got inside right away after I found it.

I didn’t want to spoil his mood, so I hurriedly approached the table for meat processing work and put some of the monster corpses I had on it.
「That’s a lot of prey you got there. You’re an Outworlder, right? Normally, monsters will disappear when you kill them, but since you have their corpses, that means you’ve learn【Hunter】skill. Am I right?」(butcher)

200G… I think it’s a fair price for this much work, but…

He didn’t look friendly at all, but I dared to ask him to teach me.
I was a bit pessimistic that he would do me that favor, but his response was unexpected.
「Are you sure you want to learn it? Not everyone can stand blood. You know what I mean?」(butcher)
「I understand. Don’t worry. I’m fine with it.」(Alice)

「Really!? Thank you, sir!」(Alice)
「First, watch carefully how I do it, and then you can try it after.」(butcher)

The butcher took his knife, grabbed one of the rabbit monster corpses, and then started showing me how to skin it.
First, we need to drain the blood.
The butcher prepared a wooden bucket to hold the blood, and after he cut open the rabbit’s neck, he hung the corpse upside down above the bucket.
After the blood was drained, he moved on to the next step which was removing the skin.
Normally, skinning a rabbit is easy. You only have to pull the skin as hard as possible.
However, this is not a normal rabbit. This is a monster rabbit which is three times bigger than normal rabbits, so removing its skin is not that simple.
The butcher made a vertical cut on the rabbit’s body with his knife and started moving his knife nimbly to separate the skin from the meat while pulling the skin upward with his other hand.
After he was done removing the skin, he removed the internal organs by cutting open the stomach and taking the organs out carefully one by one.
Lastly, he simply chopped the body into several parts and washed them with clean water.
「Alright. Now you do it.」(butcher)
「O, Okay.」(Alice)
Although it’s inside a virtual game, this is my first time butchering an animal, so I’m kinda nervous.
Borrowing his knife, I grabbed one of the rabbit corpses and tried as best as I could to do exactly what he did.
Even though I wasn’t as nimble and quick as the butcher, I managed to get the job done.
「Phew… I did it!」(Alice)
「Not bad for your first time.」(butcher)
「Thank you.」(Alice)
Soon after I thanked him, a notification popped out.

Again? This is the third time I got new skills for free…

I could learn【Compounding】for free after Nansa obaa-chan taught me how to make an ointment,【Hunter】after Rick taught me how to hunt, and【Butcher】after the butcher taught me how to skin a monster.
If it’s not a coincidence, that means you can learn skills for free after being taught by NPCs?
I see… This is a huge discovery!
Of course, I went to the ‘Skills’ interface and learned the【Butcher】skill right away.
Soon after, I got another notification.

Wow, I can learn another new skill! This is awesome!
But, it doesn’t say that it’s free. Well, it doesn’t matter. I still have some skill points after all.
Without hesitation, I spent one skill point to learn【Sever】.
It only says, “The skill that helps you cut your prey” in the description, so I don’t really understand how it works. Perhaps the butcher knows about this skill.

「Yeah, I did.」(Alice)

I followed the butcher outside. It seemed that he wanted to take me somewhere.
I wonder what kind of skill this is. I hope this is a useful skill that will help me fulfill my ambition in this game, which is, of course, making delicious food from the monsters I hunt!
