Chapter 1-43 : PVP Event Registration
A few weeks later, it was finally the day of the PVP event. The preliminaries would start at noon in-game time.
Shougo, Rin, and I agreed to go to the arena together, and currently, Rin and I are waiting for Shougo at the special portal in Erst Town that would send people to the arena.
By the way, portals normally can only teleport players, but this special portal can teleport NPCs too. However, as a matter of course, NPCs can’t participate in the event. They can only join as spectators.
「Hahh… What the hell is he doing? He’s making us wait too long!」(Rin)
「Perhaps he got a make-up class as usual.」(Alice)
We agreed to go to the arena an hour before the event starts, but Rin and I have been waiting for thirty minutes here.
Just when we talked about Shougo, the person himself appeared and waved at us apologetically.
「Yo, guys.」(Shougo)
「You’re late!」(Rin)
「I’m sorry, but… what could I do? That professor really took his time!」(Shougo)
「Hmph! Making excuses as usual, aren’t you? Let’s go, Alice.」(Rin)
Looking away from Shougo, Rin took my hand and pulled me toward the portal.

Shougo followed us from behind while hanging his head in shame.
I felt kinda bad for him, but it was his fault in the first place. If he had studied properly, he wouldn’t have failed the test and had so many make-up classes.
As soon as we stepped onto the portal, our sight turned white for a second, and the next thing we saw was the huge arena that looked like the colosseum.
「Dang! It’s super massive!」(Shougo)
「Is that where we’re going to fight?」(Alice)
「Looks like it. Anyway, let’s register first, shall we~?」(Rin)
Even though we’re inside a game, we can’t participate without registering manually at the reception.
As we headed for the reception desk, I saw someone familiar sitting behind the desk. I approached him and greeted him.
「Taurus-kun, it’s been a while!」(Alice)
It’s Taurus, the boy who helped me during the tutorial part of the game after I created my character. (ch 1-4)
He is one of the Twelve Rulers of the Zodiac Signs, a group of twelve super artificial intelligent NPCs made by the developer to help players and manage everything inside the game, including in-game events.
「Alice-sama, welcome to the arena.」(Taurus)
「Thank you. Umm, by the way, would you introduce the lady next to you?」(Alice)
Taurus is not alone at this reception desk. There’s a beautiful woman sitting next to him. Her beauty caught my attention.
「This is Virgo, one of the Twelver Rulers of the Zodiac Signs, like me. We’re managing this event.」(Taurus)
「I see.」(Alice)
I shifted my gaze toward her, but she glared at me, looking a bit annoyed for some reason.
「What? You have something to say to me?」(Virgo)
「Eh? Ah, nothing, it’s just… Umm… You’re so beautiful.」(Alice)
「Hmph. Of course, I am. I’m the sixth Ruler of the Zodiac Signs, Virgo, after all~!」(Virgo)
Virgo smirked at me as she said that.
She is a very attractive woman, but it seems that she’s not very friendly and a bit… arrogant.
「Hey, Virgo, show some respect, would you? Be polite to the Outworlders.」(Taurus)
「Hmph. Why should I? In the first place, I shouldn’t be here now. Why in the world did the Lord Creator order me to manage this stupid event?」(Virgo)
「It’s because this is your job as a Ruler of Zodiac Signs! Also, you should watch your mouth next time!」(Taurus)

After scolding Virgo, Taurus returned his gaze to me and politely lowered his head to me.
「Alice-sama, let me apologize in her place. This woman really has a bad attitude.」(Taurus)
「Ta, Taurus-kun, it’s okay. I don’t mind it anyway…」(Alice)
「You’re so kind, Alice-sama.」(Taurus)
I don’t know about being kind. I just don’t want to make her upset even more.
「So, are you going to participate in this tournament or just here to watch as a spectator?」(Taurus)
「I’m here to fight, of course! So are these two.」(Alice)
I stepped aside and showed Taurus my two friends who were standing behind me.
「Are you Alice-sama’s friends? I’m the second Ruler of the Zodiac Signs, Taurus. It’s a pleasure to meet you both.」(Taurus)
「Nice to meet you too~ I’m Rin! So, you’re the zodiac who helped Alice with the tutorial, huh? The one who helped me was Cancer.」(Rin)
「I’m Shougo. Leo helped me with the tutorial, by the way.」(Shougo)
「Cancer and Leo, I see. I hope those two were helpful to you.」(Taurus)
「Don’t worry~ Cancer was nice and helpful~」(Rin)
「Leo was a bit too overfriendly, but he explained everything properly.」(Shougo)
New players who have finished creating their characters will be assisted by the Twelve Rulers of the Zodiac Signs to pass the tutorial, but who will be assisting you seems to be random, and it seems that all the twelve members have different personalities.
I was lucky to have Taurus help me during the tutorial. He is polite and friendly.
As for Virgo… I feel bad for the players who had her to assist them…
While thinking about that, I secretly glanced at Virgo, who was resting her jaw on her arm.
She noticed my gaze and glared at me.
「Huh?」(Virgo)
ーHiiiy!!
I spontaneously looked away.
Meanwhile, Taurus has completed our registration.
「Alice-sama, Rin-sama, Shougo-sama, you can now participate in this event. Please take these cards.」(Taurus)
He then handed each of us a blank card.
「What is this?」(Alice)
「These cards will determine which group you are going to compete in the preliminary round. A letter should appear soon.」(Taurus)
Soon after Taurus explained, the letter “E” appeared on my card.
Seems like I will be competing in the E group.
「I’ll be in the B group. How about you guys?」(Shougo)
「I’m in the E group.」(Alice)
「Ara~ I’m in the E group too.」(Rin)
Looks like Rin and I will be competing in the same group, while Shougo will be in a different one.
「Oi, oi. I’m the only one being left out, huh?」(Shougo)
Shougo looked somewhat upset for being the only one in a different group.
Rin and I are in the same group, which means, depending on the rules, we might have to fight each other.
「Let’s do our best together, Alice~!」(Rin)
「Un!」(Alice)
Although we may become enemies when the tournament starts, we decide to give it our all and just have fun. After all, this is a game where you have fun with your friends.
「Well then, I’ll join my group now. Good luck, you two!」(Shougo)
「Shougo, you too, good luck!」(Alice)
「Good luck~」(Rin)
「Ou! See you guys in the finals!」(Shougo)
Rin and I parted with Shougo and headed to the portal with the sign saying, “Group E”.
We stepped into the portal and teleported to another place.
