Chapter 1-19 : Port Town, Hafen (part 3)
「Let’s kill it!」(Alice)
「But, Alice, my arrow didn’t do much damage. This spider is strong.」(Ruka)
「You’re right. We need to be careful.」(Alice)
「Moreover… Isn’t it too big for a spider?」(Ruka)
「I think it’s a common thing, especially in a game like this.」(Alice)
「Right. So, you have a plan?」(Ruka)
「Hmm… We can try flanking it. I’ll go around and attack it from behind. For that to work, I need you to distract it with your arrows.」(Alice)
「Got it.」(Ruka)
「Ready? …Let’s do it!」(Alice)
As soon as I saw Ruka replying with a nod, I started running toward the bushes on the side.
「Hey, stupid spider! Come get me! 【Power Shoot】!」(Ruka)
Ruka shot another arrow, trying to distract the spider’s attention, but it quickly jumped sideways, dodging the arrow.

However, it didn’t stop there. Soon after, it spat out sticky thread out of its backside toward Ruka.

「I’m good!」(Ruka)
Seems like Ruka managed to dodge it.
The spider kept shooting webs toward her but she successfully avoided them by swiftly moving from tree to tree, using them as cover.
「【Power Shoot】! 【Power Shoot】! 【Power Shoot】! 」(Ruka)
Of course, Ruka wasn’t just dodging. She returned fire at the spider.
However, the spider also managed to dodge all her arrows as well.
「It moves so quickly! Alice!」(Ruka)
「I’m on it!」(Alice)
Even though she missed most of her shots, I was able to go around the spider safely thanks to her.
While still hiding in the bushes, I drew my wakizashi and activated my【Sever】Skill.
I could see red lines on its body. However…
「Whait, what!?」(Alice)
I was planning to cut its head off like I always did every time I killed a monster, but I didn’t see a red line on its neck.
Not only neck, I didn’t see red lines on its chest and abdomen either.
The red lines were only visible on its eight legs. It seemed that this monster’s cutoff points were only the legs.
But that’s not the only bad news.
I saw thousands of thin wet needles sticking out each of the spider’s legs. They seemed to be poisonous.
Attacking its legs would be quite risky.
I could try to hit its neck, but my blade wouldn’t do much damage if it didn’t hit any red lines. The chance I could cut off its head would be extremely slim.
Things are not going as planned. What should I do?
「Alice, what’s wrong? Hurry up! 【Power Shoot】!」(Ruka)
Ruka is still battling the spider. I have to hurry.
It’s risky but it seems like I have no other choice but to try cutting off its legs first.
The spider moves fast, but the giant wolf boss monster we fought on the raid was much faster. With my current AGI stat plus my【AGI Boost】Skill, I might be able to hit the red lines on its legs while dodging those poisonous needles.
Without wasting any more time, I came out of the bushes and dashed toward the spider as fast as possible.
Spiders have a wide field of vision, so it noticed me approaching even though I was coming from behind, but thanks to Ruka who kept shooting her arrow at it, it had no time to react.
「Hyaa!」(Alice)
As a result, I managed to cut one of its legs off.
「I’m not done yet! Haa!」(Alice)
I didn’t stop. I immediately turned my body and swung my blade again, cutting another leg off.
「One moー」(Alice)
「ーAlice!」(Ruka)
I got greedy and went for another leg, but the spider then tried kicking me with the leg on its other side.
If it hit me, I would have been poisoned by those poisonous needles on its leg, but thanks to Ruka alerting me, I noticed the danger and barely managed to dodge it. I then stepped away from the spider right away.
「Hwawa!」(Alice)
「Alice, you okay?」(Ruka)
「Phewー That was close. Thank you, Ruka!」(Alice)
I was able to cut two of its legs off, but its HP only decreased by about ten percent.
「Ruka, let’s keep attacking!」(Alice)
「Aye!」(Ruka)
Ruka continued firing her arrows at the spiders.
The spider was quite tanky. However, it moves slower now because it has fewer legs.
Because of that, Ruka was able to hit it. Some of her arrows landed on the spider’s chest and abdomen.
The spider’s movements were gradually getting slower and slower. I used this opportunity to cut off its other legs.
ーSlash!
Three legs cut off!

Four!
ーSlash! Slash! Slash!
Five! Six! Seven!
「Whoaa!」(Ruka)
Ruka was stunned watching me dancing with my blade, swiftly cutting off the spider’s legs while dodging incoming attacks.

EIGHT!
Finally, I was able to cut off all of its eight legs.
Realizing it had no chance of winning, the spider shot a thread on a tree and started pulling itself, trying to escape.
「It’s running away!」(Alice)
「As if! 【Power Shoot】!」(Ruka)
But then Ruka promptly shot an arrow and hit the thread, breaking it apart. The spider then fell to the ground.
「Alice, finish it!」(Ruka)
「Leave it to me!」(Alice)
I quickly jumped on the spider and landed on its body. I raised my wakizashi above my head, and thenー
「Haaa!!」(Alice)
ーswung it down as hard as I could and stabbed its head, decreasing the HP of the limbless monster to zero.
「Phew…」(Alice)
「Did we kill it?」(Ruka)
「Yup. Good work, Ruka!」(Alice)
「You too, Alice! What a strong monster…」(Ruka)
「Yeah, it’s much stronger than the monsters near Erst Town. As expected from the new area.」(Alice)
「You’re right… But… Alice, if it’s already dead, why does its dead body remain?」(Ruka)
「Hm? Ah, well, it’s the effect of my unique skill.」(Alice)
「Unique skill?」(Ruka)
「It’s called【Hunter】. The monsters I kill will not disappear. I landed the last hit on it, so its carcass remains. I learned it from a Resident in Erst Town, by the way.」(Alice)
「A Resident? You mean an NPC?」(Ruka)
「Yeah, he’s a hunter. You can ask him to teach you if you want, but once you learn it, it will stay active forever. You won’t be able to deactivate it.」(Alice)
「I see. So… You have to dismantle the bodies yourself to get the drops?」(Ruka)

「Thanks to Mr. Spidey I’m completely awake now.」(Ruka)
「Alright then.」(Alice)
I collected the spider’s carcass and its severed legs, put them in my【Storage】, and then continued walking deeper into the forest with Ruka.
