Chapter 2-16 : Experimenting With Magic Weapons (part 1)

 

「Alright, it’s time for the long-awaited experiment! Yaay~!」(Kako)

「Yaay~… Ah, you can do it by yourself-nya. I’m gonna take a nap-nya.」(Nyat)

「Geez. Cats sure sleep a lot.」(Kako)

「I’m not a cat-nya!」(Nyat)

「Alright, alright.」(Kako)

Nyat and I are currently in my room.

We went straight home from Arcel’s house because I wanted to begin experimenting with the magic weapons I bought from him as soon as possible.

I took all of the magic weapons out of my magic bag and lined them on the floor.

「Let’s see… I think I’ll start with fire-attributed weapons, but I want to try combining a normal weapon with the magic one first. I will combine this sword and… This sword. Synthesis!」(Kako)

I took out a normal low-quality steel sword I bought from the blacksmith village, touched a magic sword of fire element that was lying on the floor with the other hand, and then combined them with my Synthesis Skill.

I looked for other weapons with fire-element and found a magic axe and a magic spear.

「An axe and a spear, huh? I think I’ll combine this sword with this axe first. Synthesis!」(Kako)

While still holding the sword, I reached for the fire magic axe and activated my skill.

The sword and the axe then turned into light. They then combined and formed a completely different shape.

「Whoa… As expected. When I combine two weapons of different types, they will turn into a completely different one.」(Kako)

The two weapons had turned into a huge sword with the tip of the blade resembling the shape of an axe.

The sword-ax and the spear combined into a long-handled battle-ax with a long tip that looked like a double-edged sword.

This weapon literally looked like a combination of a sword, an axe, and a spear.

〈Flame Magic Halberd Sword : A halberd with an extended blade. It’s a complicated weapon that has the properties of a sword, an axe, and a spear, so it takes time and skill to master it. The blade will be wrapped in flame when activated. It can be used by anyone with mana, and it consumes a decent amount of mana.〉

「A halberd sword…? I see. I finally got a decent one. I think I can sell this weapon at a high price, but of course, this is not what I’m looking for. This is not enough. I need a much better weapon than this. But…」(Kako)

I looked around for another weapon with fire-element, but I couldn’t find any.

「I need more fire-attributed magic weapons… Maybe I can ask Arcel-san to make them for me. I’m his sponsor now, so he might do it right away.」(Kako)

I was thinking of calling Thea, but first, I put the halberd I just made into my magic bag. She might become suspicious if she saw it.

After putting away the halberd, I grabbed the handbell on the table and rang it.

*Knock knock*

Not long after, I heard someone knocking on the door.

She was doing chores around the house, but as always, she immediately came when I rang the bell. It didn’t even take her five seconds to get to my room as if she could use teleportation or something.

「Come in!」(Kako)

「Kako ojou-sama, how can I help you?」(Thea)

「Can you tell Arcel-san to make fourー no, five fire magic swords and deliver them to me?」(Kako)

「Understood.」(Thea)

She nodded to me and immediately left my room.

「Alright. It will take a while until I get more fire magic weapons. I wonder if I should try other elements for now. Let’s see what we have here…」(Kako)

I bought twenty magic weapons from Arcel-san, but he gave me one extra as a bonus, so I had twenty-one of them. I used three of them just now, which means there are eighteen magic weapons remaining.

One was infused with water magic, two with ice magic, two with explosion magic, five with wind magic, three with earth magic, two with light magic, and three with protection magic.

「Hmm… I wonder what will happen if I combine magic weapons with different elements.」(Kako)

I think there are three possibilities.

They would turn into a magic weapon that had two abilities inherited from the weapons used as materials, they would turn into a magic weapon with a completely different ability, or…

…The two attributes would repel each other and cause a bang… That would be the worst-case scenario.

「Ugh… I don’t want to destroy this mansion and cause trouble to everyone. Besides, I want to test these magic weapons and see for myself what kind of abilities they have. It might be better to continue somewhere else just in case.」(Kako)

That’s right. I need a safe place to continue this experiment. Ideally, somewhere secluded where I can test the weapons and not worry about causing trouble to others.

But… If I go outside, Thea and Marqise will tag along. I don’t want them to see me using my Synthesis Skill. That means I have to leave secretly…

I think I can sneak out through the back door, but even if I could, it would be dangerous for me to wander outside by myself.

I shifted my gaze from the magic weapons on the floor to the big cat lying on my bed.

「Hey, Nyat, are you still awake?」(Kako)

「I’m sleeping-nya…」(Nyat)

「Come on, I need your help! I’ll make you something delicious later.」(Kako)

「Really? Alright then. What’s the plan-nya?」(Nyat)

「I want you to take me to the forest, but I don’t want anyone to notice that I’m gone. We’ll leave secretly.」(Kako)
