Chapter 332 : Liane’s Perspective
Geez! I don’t know why Father likes him so much!
Well, I hate to admit it, but he certainly has some knowledge that I don’t. He can cook and is good at magic.
However, he can cook probably because his parents taught him, and he’s good at magic because he was naturally born with that talent, unlike me who had to practice hard before I could even cast easy spells.
Ever since Father returned from Fatia, he has been talking about him almost every day. He even went too far sometimes and said he would be a perfect candidate for my husband in the future.
Of course, I never took it seriously and I’m sure Father was just joking around when he said it, but I really hate it when he talks about that boy!
Father often says that enjoying romance is an important part of life. He said I would understand when I got married to a man.
He often tells me stories about his romantic life with Mother in the past. He told me how they met and fell in love with each other.
Well, I can understand that he wants me to experience it too, but, Father, I’m sorry. That will NEVER happen.
As a noble, I know I will eventually marry a man, but I don’t have time to enjoy romance, besides, I hate males!
I will marry a man, but it’s just for formalities and to continue this family, no more than that.
There’s no need for me to enjoy romance because I have much more important things to take care of, for example, the future of this territory.
I heard from Grandpa that our family had suffered a series of misfortunes, and because of it, Father, who was the third son, became the head of the family, and it caused jealousy and resentment among the relatives.
Why should Father, who works hard every day for the sake of his people, have to be hated by his own relatives?
I don’t know, but one thing I know is that I can’t let those people become the head of the family.
I have to protect this family from those greedy people and keep this territory a place where people can live peacefully.
The first thing I thought of was marrying a powerful noble from another house.
I was sure no one would refuse to become Earl’s son-in-law, and if I could form friendships with that powerful family, my greedy relatives wouldn’t be able to interfere.
That wasn’t a bad idea, but then I realized that it could also bring a new disaster.
Of course, not all nobles are greedy people. Some of them are good people who genuinely wish for the prosperity of their people like my father.
However, it’s very difficult to judge whether a person is trustworthy or not in this aristocratic society.
In that case, I only have one option left.
Yes, I will eventually marry a man, BUT! I’m the one who will be the head of the family!
First, I have to look for a man who I think is worthy to become my future husband. Fortunately, I will be entering the Royal Academy when I turn thirteen, and I will have the opportunity to meet many excellent people there.
After I find a man who meets my requirements, then I will make him submit to me! I will make him dedicate his life to me! I will make sure he won’t betray me and will do whatever I tell him to do!
In other words, I will make my future husband my slave!
In order to do that, I have to be strong. I have to be a woman who won’t lose to men!
Yes. I can’t lose to men, especially that boy!
If I lose to him, I will lose all my confidence to carry out this noble mission of protecting my family!
That boy might not realize it, but he has been my rival ever since Father showed me the perfectly rounded ball he made with earth magic.
He is one of the walls I must overcome. Nothing more, nothing less.
Talking about that boy, Maya took him away to dress him up.
He will disguise himself as a girl and join us in the mission to infiltrate a criminal’s group base.
I’ve been waiting for a while in the dining room with Nicola-chan and the others since Maya took him away. I wonder what is taking him so long?
While wondering, I glanced at Nicola, and she smiled at me.
Aahh~ She is sooooo cute!! She’s truly an angel!
I hate to say it, but there are two things about that boy that I don’t think even I can match.
The first one is that he has a super cute little sister, Nicola-chan.
I’ve seen many cute and beautiful girls in the city, but she is easily the cutest girl I’ve ever met in my life!
The second one is that he has a tremendous amount of mana.
I’ve never told this to anyone, but I have the same Gift as Father which allows me to see other people’s mana.
Sometimes, you can have the same Gift as your parents, but I heard that it’s a very rare case. It seemed that I was extremely lucky.
Anyway, that boy’s mana is similar to Nicola-chan’s but much stronger. I’ve never seen someone with mana as powerful as his.
He surely has a talent for magic, but even so, I can’t lose to him! I must prove that a hard-working person can beat a talented one!
「Everyone, I’m sorry to have kept you waiting. He’s ready.」(Maya)
After waiting for a while, Maya entered the dining room.
Finally…
Well, I don’t think a boy like him will look good in a dress. I can just tell Father not to include him in this mission if I think he’s not good at all.
「Mark-sama, what are you doing? Come here and show yourself.」(Maya)
「Ugh…」(Mark)
When Maya beckoned him, Mark, who was hiding behind the door, stepped forward.
「ー!!」(Liane)
This can’t be…
I’m not seeing the ugly, rude boy anywhere. What I’m seeing in front of me is a blonde girl as cute as Nicola-chan.
His face looked similar to Nicola-chan’s since they’re twins, so I thought he would look decent in a dress, but… He exceeded my expectations…
I still can’t believe he would look so much different simply by just wearing a wig and the old simple dress of mine that I no longer wear.
I was so shocked that I accidentally activated my Gift and saw his overflowing mana that looked like a pair of wings behind his back.
「Am I seeing… an angel…?」(Liane)
I couldn’t help but murmur to myself.
What is this feeling…? My cheeks grew hot and my heart was beating fast for some reason.
It reminds me of when I first saw Nicola-chan a few days ago.
No… No, no, no! Get yourself together, Liane!
He’s a boy!
He may look good in a dress, but he’s still a male!
But… But…!!
I couldn’t believe I would say it, but… Dammit!
He… He’s so cuuuute~!!

Mark, run for your sanity.
I mean they are twin, calling him ugly is more or less also calling Nicole ugly as well kek (couldn’t remember if they are identical or not lol)
So as we thought, she just hate man and super jealous of Mark cuz of damn noble father brag about him daily?
Maybe metaphorically ugly? Other aspects of him than his appearance. Some behaviors can be called ugly too.
“Identical twins” is a term for monozygotic twins, aka they are developed from the same zigote, abd therefire ALWAYS share the same sex.
Since they are brother and sister, they are dizygotic twins, also called “fraternal”. They might have similar appearance (cause siblings), or might not. In fact, author pointed out in the story that people think that they are way WAY different, despite being siblings (not even twins). Super cute little sister on the level of a super star, and a common bloke brother that looks so “normal” as it can ever get.
On illustrations though, they are sharing the same unusual double colour of the hair, and overall look quite similar.
Un rostro que se vería bien en una niña, no siempre se verá bien en un niño, no es así?
True, but surprisingly he never been called cute, pretty, or girly. Considering author’s tendency to exaggerate how all the people get their eyes heartshaped when they see Nicole, it wouldn’t be strange to have been brought up once or twice at least.
But no, he usually gets “Meh, for a brother and sister, you don’t look alike at all. Are you sure that you are even related?”
