Chapter 1-38 : Trouble In The Sea (part 2)
Curious, I approached the crowd and asked one of the fishermen.
「Umm, excuse me.」(Alice)
「Hm? What is it, young lady?」(fisherman)
「I’m sorry, I’m just wondering what is going on here.」(Alice)
「Wait, are you an Outworlder?」(fisherman)
Noticing I was wearing kimono armor and carrying a short katana on my waist, the man asked.
「I am.」(Alice)
「Good timing! Young lady, we need your help!」(fisherman)
「If it’s something I can do, I don’t mind helping, but what’s exactly going on?」(Alice)
「Yesterday, a school of Sea Serpents appeared offshore and attacked anyone who got close. We fishermen can’t sail today because of them.」(fisherman)
「I see. Have you issued a quest at the guild?」(Alice)
「We’re currently discussing that, but honestly, I doubt anyone would accept the quest.」(fisherman)
「Are these monsters that strong?」(Alice)
「Yeah. According to the fishermen who survived their attack yesterday, there were five of them, and each one was as big as a two-story building. Hahh… those monsters really gave us a headache! If it keeps going, there will be no restaurant serving seafood.」(fisherman)
「What!? That’s bad news!」(Alice)

I’m still not sure if I can defeat them, but this is a good opportunity to test my new swimsuit armor. I have a reliable partner who can swim really well underwater, so I think I’ll be fine.

I got onto the boat that was docked by the end of the pier and set sail.
The sea was calm and the weather was nice, but I didn’t see any boats or ships around. It seemed that everyone was scared of those monsters.
A few hundred meters away from the harbor, I decided to stop. The fisherman would scold me if I let the monsters destroy this boat, so I decided to swim from here.
After confirming that no one could see me, I took out Levy’s Summoning Stone and summoned them.
「Levy, come out!」(Alice)
「Kyu!」(Levy)
「I know we just defeated the Earth Viper, but our job is not done yet. Listen. There are bad Sea Serpents attacking fishermen around here. If we ignore them, we won’t be able to eat seafood!」(Alice)
「Kyuu!? Kyu, kyu!」(Levy)
Levy looked somewhat annoyed.
「Right? It pisses me off too. If we get rid of them, I promise you I will feed you delicious seafood. So, will you help me?」(Alice)
「Kyu!!」(Levy)
「Alright, let’s teach those monsters a lesson for making us angry!」(Alice)
I quickly changed into my new swimsuit armor and jumped into the sea.
Levy followed me. As soon as they touched the water, they used their shapeshift skill to get bigger so that they could swim faster, but…
「Whoa! Levy, you’re so big!」(Alice)
Although Levy could increase their size using the shapeshift skill, there was a limit due to the ‘Restricted’ status Levy got when they became my pet.
Levy could only grow to a length of one and a half meters so far, but now Levy is roughly fourー no, five meters in length. Even though it’s still much smaller than Levy’s original size when they’re in the dragon form, still, I think it’s big enough to fight the Sea Serpents.
「Gyuu!!」(Levy)
Not only their size, but their voice also changed. It sounded much heavier than before.
「Levy, seems like you have gotten stronger. I wonder if it’s because you ate the Earth Viper, or… Is it because you’re in the sea now?」(Alice)
「Gyuu?」(Levy)
Levy tilted their head. They don’t seem to know either.
I’m not really sure, but it’s probably because we’re in the sea now. Levy was so cute that I sometimes forgot that they were actually the almighty sea dragon, Leviathan.
It’s still a mystery why Levy spawned in the Squidspiders’ nest in Lake Clar, but Levy’s true habitat is here in the sea.
「Gyu, Gyu.」(Levy)
Levy turned their head and pointed their snout at their back. Seems like Levy wants me to hop onto their back.
「Can I?」(Alice)
「Gyu.」(Levy)
Without hesitation, I climbed up and sat on Levy’s back.
Levy then started swimming really fast.
「Wooohooo~! This is really fun!」(Alice)
It felt like I was riding a fast banana boat. This is so much fun.
「Gyu. Gyu, Gyu.」(Levy)
「Ahaha! Sorry, I almost forgot our goal. So? Can you tell where those monsters are?」(Alice)
「Gyu, gyu.」(Levy)
Levy turned their head downward. It seems that our targets are underwater.
「Alright. Let’s dive.」(Alice)
「Gyu.」(Levy)
As I held Levy’s back tightly with both hands, we went underwater.
It was a bit dark down here, but thanks to my【Cat’s Eye】Skill, I could see my surroundings clearly.
「（There they are.）」(Alice)
I spotted a group of eel-like monsters about ten meters ahead.
The fisherman said there were five, but I saw six of them. Either the witness miscalculated or they had just gotten a new friend. If it were the latter, then there is a possibility they would grow in numbers if we ignore them, but as the fisherman said, they were big and looked strong. Each of them seemed to have a body length of about five meters, about the same as Levy’s current size.
The Sea Serpents are currently eating a huge shark. They’re so engrossed in their food that they don’t notice us.
「（They’re letting their guard down. This is our chance! Levy, go!）」(Alice)
「（Gyu!）」(Levy)
As soon as I gave the order, Levy moved forward at high speed like a torpedo toward one of the Sea Serpents and bit it from behind, pushing their sharp fangs deep into the serpent’s body.
The serpent was shocked. It started wriggling, trying to shake Levy off, but no matter how hard it tried, Levy wouldn’t let it go.
Thanks to Levy, I had a chance to attack. I activated my【Sever】Skill and drew my wakizashi. I kicked Levy’s back to launch myself toward the serpent’s head and quickly cut off its neck with my blade.
「（Alright! One down!）」(Alice)
Seeing their friend being killed in an instant, the other Sea Serpents glared at us.
Three of them were coming at me, trying to eat me, but I managed to dodge their huge mouths.
Thanks to my new swimsuit armor, I was able to move quickly, even deep in the sea where the water pressure was high.
「（Wow! This armor is awesome!）」(Alice)
I don’t feel like I’m swimming underwater at all; instead, I feel like I’m flying in the sky with a jetpack on my back.
While the three serpents were focusing on me, the other two were attacking Levy, and one of them managed to bite Levy’s trunk.
「（Levy!!）」(Alice)
However, Levy looked unfazed as if they didn’t feel pain at all. Levy then attacked back by doing the same thing to the serpent. They turned their head around and bit the serpent by the torso.
The two were biting each other’s bodies, but Levy had the skill called【Tearing Fangs】that allowed them to rip the serpent’s torso apart, splitting its body in half and killing it.
The dying Sea Serpent completely lost its strength and let go of Levy’s body.
I could see blood coming out of the bite wound in Levy’s torso, but then the wound started to close and was completely healed in a few seconds thanks to Levy’s【Self Recovery】Skill.
After confirming the death of their enemy, Levy glanced at me and nodded as if saying, “I’m alright, don’t worry.”
「（That’s my boy!）」(Alice)
Levy barely took any damage from the serpent, probably thanks to their【Physical Damage Mitigation】Skill, and then the【Self Recovery】Skill would heal their wounds.
I was panicked when the serpent got Levy, but it looks like I don’t have to worry about them. Watching Levy fighting made me realize how powerful they were.
「（Alright. Two down, four remaining.）」(Alice)
There were still four enemies to kill.
Three serpents were glaring at me, ready to attack me anytime; meanwhile, the other one was fighting against Levy.
My reliable partner will surely be able to defeat that one enemy. All I have to do is focus on killing the three monsters in front of me.
They look angry and hungry at the same time as if they wanted to eat me so badly, but that won’t happen ‘cause they will end up in my and Levy’s stomachs instead!
