Chapter 2-6 : The Girl And The Dark Elf Explore The First Floor Of The Great Labyrinth

「Alright, now that we’re full, are you ready to explore?」(Ingrid)

「Un. Let’s go.」(Elle)

After finishing their slime meatball noodle soup, they left the cafeteria and headed for the teleportation magic circle in the middle of the hall.

There were some people lining up in front of the circle.

「This teleportation magic will send people to different locations on the first floor of the labyrinth each time it’s used. It’s to prevent so many people from starting from the same point and ending up hurting each other. You don’t want to explore the dangerous labyrinth with people you don’t trust after all.」(Ingrid)

「I see. That’s why we’re queuing.」(Elle)

While waiting for their turn, Elle watched people being teleported by the magic circle. As soon as they stood on it, the circle glowed for a few seconds, and then they disappeared.

First was a party of five people, and then a party of three people, and then a solo adventurer. They seemed to be sent to different locations on the first floor.

After waiting for a while, it was time for Elle and Ingrid to use the teleporter.

「Elle, let me say this once again. Keep your eyes peeled and never let your guard down. Got it?」(Ingrid)

「Got it.」(Elle)

「Alright, let’s go.」(Ingrid)

They were going to explore one of the most dangerous dungeons in the kingdom. They had to proceed with caution.

After replying to Ingrid with a firm nod, Elle followed her, stepping onto the magic circle.

As the circle began to glow, Ingrid held Elle’s hand to make her feel at ease even for a bit. Meanwhile, Yoyo was clinging to Elle’s leg.

「Here we go!」(Ingrid)

Soon after the magic circle shone at its maximum brightness, their vision was enveloped in white, and the scenery changed in a split second.

Before they realized it, they were standing in a dark, narrow, cave-like place. It was damp, and they could hear mysterious sounds echoing from all different directions.

「Elle, you alright?」(Ingrid)

「Yes. Wait a sec, I’ll provide some light.」(Elle)

Since they could barely see anything, Elle spontaneously took out a light magic stone and turned it on.

Now they could see their surroundings, and they noticed they were the only people in that place.

「Are we in the labyrinth now?」(Elle)

「Yeah. Looks like nobody is around.」(Ingrid)

「Yoyo, do you feel anything?」(Elle)

「Nope. No malice yet. I think we’re good.」(Yoyo)

It seemed that there were no monsters, traps, or other adventurers with ill intentions nearby.

Realizing they were teleported to a safe spot, Elle let out a sigh of relief.

Suddenly, Flamberge flew off his sheath and swung around.

『Aaahhh~ I can finally do some stretches.』(Flamberge)

「Gyau gyau~! (Me too~!)」(Prox)

Following him, Prox came out of Elle’s magic bag and flew around.

「You two, stop it. It’s cramped here. You would hit the wall.」(Elle)

「Gyau~ (Aye, Ma’am~)」(Prox)

『Haha! Sorry, I’m just too excited. It’s been a looong time since my last adventure!』(Flamberge)

Flamberge went back into his sheath, while Prox rested on Elle’s shoulder.

「Hmm… This cave… I see.」(Ingrid)

After observing her surroundings for a while, Ingrid nodded. She seemed to have learned their location.

「We didn’t buy a map, but do you know where we are?」(Elle)

「Yup. I’ve been in this labyrinth many times, so I have roughly memorized the layouts of the upper floors. You won’t get lost as long as you stick with me.」(Ingrid)

「Alright.」(Elle)

「This way. I know where to go.」(Ingrid)

Without staying any longer, they began to walk.

However, after only walking for a few minutes, Elle noticed something on the ground and stopped.

「Wait, Ingrid. There are some healing herbs there.」(Elle)

Elle approached the herbs and crouched down.

「Hmm, too bad. They’re low-quality ones.」(Elle)

「You can tell by just looking?」(Ingrid)

「Yes. I’ve gathered thousands of these herbs back at my home. Though, I’ve never seen ones that grow in a place without sunlight like this.」(Elle)

「Well, this labyrinth is full of mysteries. Many materials spawn from thin air in this place.」(Ingrid)

「Fascinating… Although they’re low-quality herbs, they still can be useful. Hold on for a moment.」(Elle)

Elle handed over the light magic stone to Ingrid and took out a small bottle made of glass and a water magic stone from her magic bag.

「What are you doing?」(Ingrid)

「Making a healing potion. It won’t be long.」(Elle)

「You what?」(Ingrid)

Making a healing potion was not easy. Ingrid was dumbfounded when Elle said it wouldn’t be long. She was watching her curiously.

First, Elle picked the herbs, put them into the bottle, added water she created with the magic stone, and shook the bottle for about ten seconds.

「It’s done.」(Elle)

「Wait, what!?」(Ingrid)

Watching Elle making a healing potion so easily, Ingrid was confused.

「It’s a low-grade healing potion, but we can use it.」(Elle)

「No, no, I mean… How!?」(Ingrid)

「Hm? I simply mixed the herbs with water.」(Elle)

「Yeah, I watched you, but… How exactly!? Even a professional alchemist needs some time to make a low-grade healing potion. I’m not an alchemist, but as far as I know, you need to grind the herb first, extract its essence, add some other chemical substances, boil it, distill it, add essential oils, boil it again with appropriate temperature, let it sit for several days, and many other procedures before the healing potion can be completed. But, Elle, you skipped those steps! How?」(Ingrid)

Ingrid was so confused that she felt her head would blow up.

「Ah, it’s thanks to this bottle. It’s a magic tool my master made. He simply called it an automatic compounder.」(Elle)

「What? So it’s a magic tool?」(Ingrid)

「Originally, it was my idea, and my master brought it to reality with his incredible skills.」(Elle)

「I see. But a magic tool that allows you to make healing potions that easily… It’s basically cheating! What a mind-blowing invention!」(Ingrid)

Witnessing a magic tool she had never seen before, Ingrid was so excited. She looked at the bottle with sparkling eyes.

「Moritzー No, Master Moritz, was it? Elle, who exactly was your master, really? I bet he was no ordinary man!」(Ingrid)

「Hm? He was a normal, knowledgeable, and respected elderly man to me.」(Elle)

「There’s no normal elderly man could create such magic tool, you know?」(Ingrid)

「Is that so?」(Elle)

Reacting to Ingrid’s words, Yoyo shook his head and sighed.

「Hahh, Ingrid, you don’t know anything about him. He was a normal old geezer, and Elle is a normal young girl.」(Yoyo)

「Do you even understand the meaning of ‘normal’? Hahh… That aside, Elle, you said it was your idea. Do you still remember its structure design?」(Ingrid)

「Yes. Do you want to try to recreate this bottle?」(Elle)

「Yeah, but do you think I can do it? I don’t think I’m as skilled as your master.」(Ingrid)

「You can do it. You are a very skilled magic tool engineer. Believe in your skills.」(Elle)

「Thank you, Elle.」(Ingrid)

Being praised by Elle, Ingrid smiled at her.

「Are you planning to sell it to public?」(Elle)

「Hmm… I could make tons of money for sure, but… I think I’ll just make one for myself. I won’t mass produce it.」(Ingrid)

Ingrid folded her arms and thought for a while before she made that decision.

「Why not?」(Elle)

「Well, imagine what if ordinary people could make their own healing potions. What do you think would happen?」(Ingrid)

「That’s… Ah, I see. It would take away jobs from the alchemists and ruin the healing potion market price.」(Elle)

「That’s right. The alchemists from all over the country might come to burn down my workshop.」(Ingrid)

「That’s scary…」(Elle)

「Right? Well, we can talk about it again later. Let’s move on. There are not many powerful monsters on this floor, but stay on guard.」(Ingrid)

「Got it. I’m right behind you.」(Elle)

After Elle moved the freshly made low-grade potion into an empty vial, they continued exploring.

Elle’s big adventure in the Great Labyrinth began.
