Chapter 2-10 : The Girl And The Others Are Fighting The Goblins
「Prox!」(Elle)
「Grau, grau! (No worries, I’m alright!)」(Prox)
Prox’s right wing was hit by the Wind Cutter, but it barely left a scratch.
If she were not a dragon, it might have cut off her wing, but thanks to her tough dragon scales, she only suffered a little bit of damage.
「Thank god… Ingrid, there are magic users among them.」(Elle)
「Goblin shamans, huh? They rarely appear on the second floor, but after encountering that giant golden slime, I’m not surprised. The Great Labyrinth today really is weird.」(Ingrid)
Ingrid seemed to be frustrated that the dungeon ‘acted’ strangely. It was as if it wasn’t the Great Labyrinth she knew.
「Grrrrrrr…!」(Prox)
「Prox?」(Elle)
Meanwhile, Prox seemed angry by the surprise magic attack. She stepped forward and shouted into the darkness.
「GRAAAAAAAAAUUU!! (SHOW YOURSELVES YOU COWARDS!!)」(Prox)
Her cry echoed throughout the tunnel, but still, even though she provoked them, the goblins hiding in the darkness didn’t come out. Instead, they cast another Wind Cutter.
「Wind for wind!」(Elle)
However, Elle quickly threw a wind magic stone and repelled it with stronger wind.
ーBWOOOOOSH!
Upon the collision, the strong gust of wind blew throughout the entire tunnel for a second.
「I don’t think they will come out. Yoyo, can you tell their positions?」(Elle)
Waiting for the enemies to come out from the darkness was pointless, so Elle was thinking of throwing magic stones in their direction. Howeverー
「They’re far away, so I can hardly tell, but I think there are two on the left and one on the right side. They’re probably archers and magic users since they don’t want to approach us.」(Yoyo)
「I see.」(Elle)
Elle and the others couldn’t see the goblins, but the goblins could see them because of the light magic stone. However, if they turned it off, they wouldn’t be able to see anything and block the incoming arrows and magic. It was too risky.
Yoyo told Elle their positions, but it was a bit vague. She couldn’t see anything.
In a case like this, she thought a wide-ranged attack would be effective, so she took out one of her most powerful magic stones, the Glacio Stone.
She used the same strategy when she fought the Red Ogre in Sance Cave back then.
However, seeing her holding such a precious magic stone, Prox shook her head.
「Grau grau grau. (Master, you don’t need to waste that valuable weapon only for killing those weaklings.)」(Prox)
「Butー」(Elle)
「Grau grau. Grau! (They can’t hurt my scales. I’m going in!)」(Prox)
「Waiー Prox!」(Elle)
Thinking she should protect her master and end this fight quickly, Prox flew toward the darkness.
Not long after she disappeared from sight, flashes of fire were seen several times from the darkness, showing that Prox was fighting. At the same time, the creepy cries that seemed to be the goblins’ were heard.
A while later, the flashes of fire disappeared, and the cries could no longer be heard.
「Prox…」(Elle)
Elle was worrying about the dragon, but in contrast to her, Yoyo seemed relaxed.
「Haha, sometimes I forgot that she was a fire dragon. Don’t worry, Elle. I no longer sense the goblins’ malice on this side. I think she has killed them all.」(Yoyo)
「Really?」(Elle)
「Grau! (I’m back!)」(Prox)
「Prox!」(Elle)
Prox returned triumphantly with only a few scratches on her body.
「Are you hurt?」(Elle)
「Grau, grau. (Just some small cuts. It’s nothing.)」(Prox)
「Stay still.」(Elle)
Elle took out a bottle of healing potion and applied it on Prox’s small wounds.
「Grau~! (Thank you~!)」(Prox)
「You’ve done a great job. Well done, Prox!」(Elle)
Elle was happy to see her precious dragon was alright. She patted Prox’s head and smiled.
「Grryaaauu~」(Prox)
Enjoying the pleasant feeling on her head, Prox shrunk and returned to her small form.
「Gyau! (I’m happy to help!)」(Prox)
「You can rest now.」(Elle)
Now that Prox had defeated all the goblins hiding ahead, Elle let out a sigh of relief and turned to Ingrid.
「Ingrid, we took care of our side. How’s yours?」(Elle)
「Well, I killed the melee ones, but…」(Ingrid)
Elle noticed that someone—or something—was missing.
「Hm? Where is Flamberge?」(Elle)
「The shamans and the archers won’t come out, so he flew to hunt them. A sword won’t die, so I think he’ll be fine.」(Ingrid)
『Phew. What annoying little demons.』(Flamberge)
「Oh, there he is… Geh!」(Ingrid)
Flamberge returned from his fight, but his blade was covered in goblin’s green, foul-smelling blood.
『Hey, Ingrid, I took care of them.』(Flamberge)
「Bweeh! Stay away!」(Ingrid)
『Oi, oi! I took care of those shamans while you fought the melee ones! We’re a team, aren’t we!? What’s with that attitude!?』(Flamberge)
「You did great, but you stink so bad!」(Ingrid)
『Gununu! This woman…! Hwaaaa~! Elle, Ingrid’s being rude!』(Flamberge)
「…..」(Elle)
Flamberge cried like a girl and flew toward Elle, but Elle immediately covered her nose and stepped away, looking at him with a slightly disgusted face.
『Nooo!! Even Elle is hating me now!!』(Flamberge)
「I’m not. You just… smell so bad… Ugh…」(Elle)
『Hwaaaa~!!』(Flamberge)
「Geez. Are you really a former hero?」(Yoyo)
「Gyau gyau. (Stop acting like a child.)」(Prox)
ーーーーー
『Aaahh~ It feels good~』(Flamberge)
After confirming that they had eliminated all the goblins, they sat on the floor and rested for a bit.
Using a wind magic stone and a water magic stone, Elle created a small water swirl to wash away the goblin blood from Flamberge’s blade.
She then used the soap made of herbs to thoroughly clean his blade and get rid of the smell.
「Alright. Shiny as new.」(Elle)
『Thank you, my princess~! You’re the best!』(Flamberge)
「Elle’s magic stones really are useful.」(Ingrid)
「Fufu. So, are we going now? I hope we don’t encounter goblin hordes again.」(Elle)
「Yeah…」(Ingrid)
Ingrid looked a bit down as she stood up.
Noticing that, Elle asked.
「What’s wrong?」(Elle)
「No, I just think this dungeon has really changed. The last time I came here, the first and second floors were easy. But this time… the giant golden slime, the goblin hordes, and goblin shamans. It’s clearly odd.」(Ingrid)
「I see… Do we stop here and go back to the entrance?」(Elle)
「Hmm…」(Ingrid)
Ingrid folded her arms and thought.
「If I were alone, I might stop here, but… What do you think, Elle?」(Ingrid)
Being asked, Elle shifted her gaze to Yoyo.
Yoyo just raised his paw a little as if saying, “It’s up to you.”
「Umm… I think we should continue. We made it this far without a problem, and I think we are strong. Besides, we might find out the reason behind the strange happenings we have encountered.」(Elle)
Seeing Elle’s determined eyes, Ingrid couldn’t help but smile.
「Alright. Let’s proceed then.」(Ingrid)
