Chapter 2-33 : Planning The Attack

When Mylia and Aria went out of the underground maze, the sky had started to get brighter.

(Clock Magic, activate… It’s already 4 am, huh…?)

After confirming the time in her mind, Mylia looked at Aria who was standing in a corner of the flowerbed.

「Peter-san said that Basilisk usually comes out of its nest at the end of spring, right? If that’s true, then we have to take action as soon as possible, otherwise we will have to wait until next year.」(Mylia)

「Mylia-san… Are you really planning to fight that dragon…?」(Aria)

Aria looked at Mylia with a worried face as she asked.

According to Peter, Basilisk usually appears at the end of spring because it loves cherry peaches. That was why that dragon appeared at the mountain north of Griffith Family’s territory when Aria, Diana and their grandma went there to pick cherry peaches several years ago.

「I remember we encountered Basilisk at that mountain at the end of spring too…」(Aria)

「Don’t worry, Aria-san, I will take care of that dragon for you!」(Mylia)

Saying that, Mylia put her fist on her chest, trying to look reliable.

Now that Aria knew how strong Mylia was, she believed that Mylia would definitely be able to defeat Basilisk. However, she felt bad because she let Mylia do most of the work. She really wanted to help, but she was afraid that she would only hold Mylia back.

Trying to cheer up Aria who looked down, Mylia smiled at her.

「Aria-san, you’re my precious friend. Helping a friend is a natural thing to do, so you don’t need to worry about it.」(Mylia)

「Mylia-san… but…」(Aria)

Aria’s eyes started to tear up. She was frustrated knowing how powerless she was.

However, she was so grateful to the Goddess Celis for uniting her with a wonderful friend.

「Thank you, Mylia-san… I’m sorry that I can’t help you…」(Aria)

「Don’t worry, you can leave it to me!」(Mylia)

「In exchange, I will help you with anything. You also have a dream, right? So let me help you make your dream come true!」(Aria)

Aria couldn’t do anything to help but she was taught to return other people’s kindness tenfold.

「Really!? My dream is “Yakiniku : YES, Marriage : NO”!」(Mylia)

「Umm… Can you tell me in a way that I can understand?」(Aria)

「Ahaha, I’m sorry. Well, to put it simply, I want to eat yakiniku every day and avoid getting married.」(Mylia)

「Hm?」(Aria)

Aria tilted her head, thinking.

「What is yakiniku? Is it some kind of meat dish? If so, I can ask my family’s chef to prepare it for you.」(Aria)

「It’s indeed some kind of meat dish. But!ーー」(Mylia)

Mylia’s impassioned lecture started. She explained what she knew about yakiniku to Aria.

There was a culture of eating grilled meat in this world, but it wasn’t as developed as the food culture in Japan. They don’t have the ultimate yakiniku sauce like the one in Jojoen.

「ーーThat’s why, while trying various kinds of meat, I continue to develop the ultimate sauce. 」(Mylia)

「I see… I feel like I’m getting hungry from just listening to you.」(Aria)

「Here. Have some Dabola-chan.」(Mylia)

Mylia took out a skewered grilled Dabola from her magic bag and gave it to Aria.

Aria was accustomed to it because she had received Dabola meat from Mylia many times.

「Thank you.」(Aria)

「Do you want me to put some salt on it?」(Mylia)

Saying that, Mylia also took out a chunk of rock salt.

「Whoa, that’s a high-class seasoning, right?」(Aria)

「Seems like it. I found a lot of them in the Atwood territory, so you can have as much as you want.」(Mylia)

「Thank you, Mylia-san.」(Aria)

The musclebrained lord and the bully of a second daughter would definitely be very upset if they found out that Mylia had a lot of rock salt.

「I will help you with your dream. “Yakiniku : Yes, Marriage : No”, was it? As for marriage, I know many ways to avoid marriage, so I think I can help you with that as well.」(Aria)

「Really? That’s so reassuring!」(Mylia)

As she said that, Mylia took out another skewered grilled Dabola and started eating it.

(I know I can rely on a daughter of a duke family when it comes to marriage!)

While chewing Dabola meat, Mylia looked at Aria and smiled.

「Well then, I’m going to my master’s house now.」(Mylia)

「…Eh?」(Aria)

Aria was surprised when Mylia suddenly said that she was going to meet her master.

「It’s better if I have some information about that dragon before I fight it, right? I think my master knows about Basilisk’s habitat and how to defeat it.」(Mylia)

「I think you better wait until school is over today. We, first graders, can’t go outside without permission. You will get a penalty for it, soー」(Aria)

「ーI know. But it’s okay. They will just confiscate one star badge from me anyway. I can still get another star badge any time, but now is the only chance to find Basilisk and dispel the petrification curse off your grandma.」(Mylia)

「…..You’re right… Okay, I understand. I will do my best to cover up your absence from the teachers.」(Aria)

「Ah, you don’t have to. I’m sure my roommates will report it to the teachers anyway. More importantly, please take thisー」(Mylia)

Mylia took out the box containing two thousand gold coins from the queen and put it on the ground.

「What is this?」(Aria)

「Two thousand gold coins. Please buy the other ingredients for the recipe with this money.」(Mylia)

While saying that, Mylia opened the box and showed the content to Aria.

「T, Two thousand…!? Where did you get this large amount of money?」(Aria)

「I got it from the queen for subjugating Zirnitra. You said your family has financial problems, right? You can use the rest of the money after you buy the ingredients to help your family.」(Mylia)

「But… This is too much…」(Aria)

「It’s okay. To be honest, carrying such a large amount of money around makes me a bit anxious, so I’ll be grateful if you want to take it.」(Mylia)

「…If you say so… Thank you, Mylia-san. I will tell my dad about this. We will definitely pay you back later.」(Aria)

「Okay.」(Mylia)

Mylia wasn’t sure what she wanted to do with that money, but then she thought that it was best to use it to help Aria’s family.

She could simply hunt some monsters and sell their materials if she needed money.

Besides, she still had a hundred kilograms of gold and silver ingots in her magic bag that she could sell anytime. Other than that, she also had four hundred tons of iron ingots. By the way, Titania didn’t know about it.

After watching Aria putting the gold coins in her magic bag, Mylia looked in the direction of the Rose Maria dormitory tower.

「Aria-san, I think you should go back to your room now.」(Mylia)

「You’re right…」(Aria)

Aria looked up at the sky.

The morning sun had begun to rise.

「Mylia-san, can I tell my sister about everything that happened? I’m sure she will be very happy knowing that our grandma can be saved. My sister is more familiar with aristocratic society than me, so I think she can help you someday.」(Aria)

「Yes, of course you can tell her.」(Mylia)

(Diana-san seems to be a strong-willed person, but I hope I can get close to her as well.)

Thinking about Aria’s sister, Mylia recalled her own beloved sister, Chloe.

(Chloe onee-chan… I will definitely make her worry if I go out of school… But…)

「Aria-san, can you tell Chloe onee-chan that I’m going out of school to meet my master and fight Basilisk?」(Mylia)

「Are you sure…? Your sister will definitely be worried about you.」(Aria)

「I know… To be honest, I don’t want to make her worry, but I think she will understand.」(Mylia)

No, Mylia didn’t understand that Chloe would definitely faint if she found out that her precious little sister went out to fight another elder dragon.

「Alright then. I will do my best not to make her worry when I tell her.」(Aria)

「Thank you. Well then, I’m going now.」(Mylia)

「Mylia-san, I wish you good luck.」(Aria)

「Un!」(Mylia)

Mylia ate the last bite of her skewered Dabola meat, gave Aria a thumbs up and disappeared, teleporting outside of the school grounds.

      1. Her main priority was yakiniku and being happy with her Chloe-onee-chan, after all~
The maids didn’t crossed her mind since she’s a commoner at heart~

Unless you’re into maids, like me~

        1. Yes but Mylia is surely missing the potential here. Doesn’t she know? Cute maids can cook lots of yakiniku! So much, many much yakiniku! that’s why maids are very good

          1. But the maids’ of this new world, and in fact, no one in this new world knows how to cook yakiniku.

  1. Ahh.. I’m so excited for the next chapter.. I can’t wait but I’ll still
be waiting for the next exciting event

  2. That gold could have gone far to improve the impoverished rocky cropland for the villagers of the Atwood domain. Since it grows millet instead of barley and wheat, the landscape is redeemable and should be able to be screened. If the Romans can do it, then this medieval magic society can too. This results in soil with the rocks, pebbles, and gravel set aside to build roadway grading, walls, and line drainage ditches. So the removed rocks do have substantial uses to add to the economy of the Atwood domain.

That gold could also be part of the seed money for Chloe to begin building more substantial contacts as she is in the third year of a four year curriculum. Oh well, the author writes in a plot protection style, so my concerns are moot. Whatever happens will happen.

    1. Gold does NOTHING for land that isn’t fertile at all. You need to plant specific types of plants in the land to improve it’s fertility. Go read up more on Chemistry and Biology. I think you haven’t been paying attention in class.

    2. If the problem was just rocks in the soil, the problem would have been solved long ago. It’s been stated multiple times already that Atwood land just isn’t fertile. So that means lack of Nitrogen and the like. So you need to plant plants like legumes, etc. for years to make it fertile.

    3. For seed money a.k.a. capital, the Griffith family will pay back the 2000 gold coins. They still at in school, so as long as it’s paid back by the time they’re ready to start their own business (there’s still apprenticeship), it’s fine.

  3. Mylia is too kind. I can understand why her older sister was always worried her. You know the world is so cruel and there are many rotten nobles.
